WHY YOU'RE NOT GETTING RESULTS, EVEN THOUGH YOU WORKOUT ALL THE TIME

5 REASONS

1. YOU'RE TOO RANDOM
There’s no consistency built into your program. No gradual progressions, no periodization. You just throw stuff together each time you’re in the gym. You find the latest wod on the web board, you grab the Facebook workout jpeg you just saw posted by the beach body trainer, you take the latest fold-out routine you just found in the health magazine. All of these could actually be great, but have you asked yourself, “do they suit my goals?” Are you plugging them in appropriately to your weekly regimen?  Are you sticking to them or just mashing them up in your hog-pog of a workout program?

2. YOU KILL YOURSELF EVERY WORKOUT
Full throttle every workout. You chase soreness. You feel like if you didn’t breathe hard and leave depleted then you didn’t do justice at the gym. How can you perform best when your energy is zapped and your muscles and nervous system are tapped? Why do you think you need to trash your body? Even elite athletes don’t train like that. They focus on fundamentals and cleaning up their mobility and movement patterns to compliment intense regimens.  High one or two days, low the next.  Training is a science and when applied right, you should feel better, not worse.

3. YOUR FORM IS BAD
You gotta stop half-butting everything. Quit trying to force reps just to get to a number. Keep your form clean. Don't miss reps.  I know you think you can do 50 push-ups, but if you did them correctly you'd probably only get 25. Doing less to do things right will help you will gain so much more. "Modifying" doesn't mean you're not strong. It means you're training smart.

4. YOU DON'T EAT RIGHT
You crush workouts 6 days a week but your diet is terrible.  It doesn't matter how hard you workout, what matters more is what you put into your body.  Focus on this more and you’ll see greater results. The gym should be complimenting to a rock solid eating plan, not something you force yourself to get to so you can burn off last night's splurge meal. That's too stressful and talk about taking the fun out of fitness!

5.YOU DON'T SLEEP ENOUGH
Our five year old woke me up the other night at 3am. I had to be at the gym for my workout at 5:20am. I was so tired, I knew I wasn't going to be 100%.  It reminded me how much sleep affects your energy and performance. After years of doing this, I would confidently say that sleep, or lack thereof, has way more of an effect on your results than your nutrition and workouts do. Rest is where results happen. It reduces stress. Don't neglect it. Seriously, sleep more.

These are just some things I've been coming across with my clients lately.

Take them for what they're worth and apply them to your system.

I can guarantee they'll be absolute game-changers.

It's not about me,
Coach Theo
